The latest Google Pixel update features the surprising launch of Android 15's best battery feature.
Android 15 will make it easier to take care of your phone's battery.
The latest Android update patches are being distributed for Google Pixel devices. Although leaked information from Verizon mentioned security improvements and bug fixes, it did not reference a highly anticipated feature related to battery management: charging limits. This tool, in Android 15, will allow devices to limit charging to 80%, thus avoiding the need to fully charge the battery every time the phone is plugged in. This measure aims to preserve battery health, as overcharging can shorten its lifespan.
Over time, limiting the charge could mean that a phone that stops at 80% lasts longer than one that constantly charges to 100%. A Pixel user discovered this feature and shared it online, showing its appearance in the battery settings menu. Although the Google Pixel 7 has been updated to software version AP3A.241105.007, this tool was not available, suggesting it may be rolling out gradually or offered to some users in advance. This battery optimization is something to watch closely following the device's most recent update.
Regarding future updates of Android 15, more information is expected about new features, including a possible enhancement of the AI assistant Jarvis. Google accidentally released information about its assistant, which has the ability to browse the web, through the Chrome extension store before quickly removing it. Although details are still scarce, Jarvis is anticipated to be an automated version of Gemini, capable of performing tasks in Chrome with less user intervention, such as searching for travel options or gift ideas.
While Chrome extensions are limited to Chromebooks and PCs, we may soon see a mobile version of Jarvis for Android and iOS, allowing the app to conduct research in the background while the user is engaged in other activities. Although Jarvis is not expected to debut on mobile devices immediately, the next Android 15 update is anticipated to bring a series of AI-related improvements.
