The JBL Tour One M3 headphones connect wirelessly to older devices via a touchscreen transmitter.
Don't throw away your 80s Walkman.
During a recent technology fair, JBL unveiled its new premium headphones, which will be available for purchase along with an optional transmitter. This accessory allows the Tour One M3 to be used wirelessly with audio sources, such as onboard entertainment systems on airplanes. The headphones will hit the market on April 13, 2025, available in black, mocha, and blue, with a price tag of $399.95. There is also the option to purchase them without the transmitter.
One of the highlighted features is the ability to connect the headphones to devices that do not have wireless connectivity, taking inspiration from JBL's wireless Tour Pro 3 headphones, which integrate this functionality into their charging case. In the case of the new Tour One M3, this option is offered through an accessory with a touchscreen called Smart Tx, which connects to devices via a USB-C cable or a 3.5mm audio cable.
The JBL Tour One M3 can connect via Bluetooth, but the Smart Tx transmitter uses a "proprietary direct wireless connection," which, according to JBL, reduces latency and improves stability. Furthermore, the Smart Tx’s touchscreen allows users to adjust headphone settings such as active noise canceling (ANC) and equalization (EQ), control music playback, answer calls, and stream audio to multiple devices compatible with Auracast.
These headphones are equipped with new generation 40mm Mica Dome drivers, designed to deliver deep bass, balanced mids, and crystal-clear highs. They feature JBL's True Adaptive Noise Cancelling 2.0 technology, which utilizes eight microphones, the same ones that enhance ambient sounds when greater situational awareness is desired. Additionally, they offer customizable EQ settings for each ear, and through an audio test in the JBL app, users can tailor the sound of the Tour One M3 to their individual preferences.
