The iRobot Roomba 205 vacuum robot can operate for eight weeks without needing to be emptied.

iRobot has just launched new models of Roomba vacuum cleaners, which include the first waste compacting system integrated in the industry.

iRobot recently unveiled a new series of Roomba vacuum cleaners featuring innovative characteristics. One of the standout models is the Roomba 205 DustCompactor Combo Robot, which is touted as "the first onboard mechanical waste compaction system in the industry." This means it can compact dust and debris similarly to a garbage compactor, allowing users to go eight weeks without emptying the device. Moreover, it eliminates the need for a dedicated waste container.

The Roomba 205 is a hybrid vacuum and mop with a four-stage suction system and ClearView LiDAR, which enhances navigation. According to the company, this model offers "250 percent more lift suction power and improved cleaning performance" compared to robots in the 600 series.

Another model, the Roomba Plus 405 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock, is also hybrid but focuses more on mopping capabilities. It features new DualClean mopping pads that spin at 200 RPM to provide extra power. It also includes the Roomba AutoWash base, which automatically cleans and dries the pads. This technology was first used in last year's Roomba Combo 10 Max.

Additionally, the Roomba 505 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock was introduced, specializing in edge cleaning. Alongside these new products, the Roomba Home app will receive a significant update, offering more intuitive control, the ability to create routines and schedules, real-time device monitoring access, and advanced customizable cleaning options.

Prices for the new vacuum cleaners start at $469 for the Roomba 205 DustCompactor Combo Robot, while the Roomba Plus 405 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock costs $800. The 505 model is priced at $1,000. Preorders will begin on March 18 through iRobot or selected retailers. Additionally, the company announced a new entry-level vacuum called the Roomba 105, priced at $319.
