The future Android phones could include a new pre-installed Google app.
If you are one of those who do not like the pre-installed apps on your smartphone, you may not be pleased with the following news.
Android phones come equipped with numerous pre-installed Google apps, including Gmail, YouTube, and Google Maps. In future versions of Android, another Google app may be added to the usual collection. Recently, it was reported that the Oppo Find X8 comes with the Google Fitbit app already pre-installed, replacing Google Fit on this device. This suggests that in the future, other Android-based devices might also be shipped with Fitbit pre-installed.
Since Google acquired Fitbit in 2021, all versions of the Pixel Watch, including the latest ones, have included this app pre-installed. However, to date, the Oppo Find X8 is the only smartphone that has been released with Fitbit in its original software. Android users can still download the Fitbit app from Google Play.
The inclusion of a new native Google app might not seem that remarkable, especially since Fitbit appears to be destined to replace Google Fit. However, there are users who are dissatisfied with the large number of Google apps that come pre-installed on new Android phones, which include Google Search, Chrome, Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube, Google Photos, and YouTube Music, among others. Additionally, many smartphone manufacturers often include their own pre-installed apps, further increasing the amount of software available immediately upon powering on the device.
If Google decides to move forward and make Fitbit a pre-installed option on all new Android devices, this could coincide with the launch of Samsung's Galaxy S25 series, scheduled for January. This would represent a significant advancement in Google's strategy to strengthen its ecosystem and compete more effectively in the health and fitness sector. On the other hand, if this feature isn’t implemented immediately, it might be rolled out in conjunction with the anticipated Google Pixel 10 series, expected to be unveiled next summer or fall.
