The developer of the GTA trilogy expresses his dissatisfaction with the latest update.

The Grand Theft Auto trilogy: The Definitive Edition received a highly anticipated update this week, but the studio behind it feels somewhat overlooked.

The recent patch for the acclaimed yet criticized Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — The Definitive Edition has generated mixed reactions, especially from Grove Street Games, the studio responsible for development alongside Rockstar Games. Following this update, fans noticed that Grove Street's name had been removed from the game’s splash screen, which caused discontent.

Thomas Williamson, CEO of Grove Street, expressed his frustration on a social platform, noting that it is inappropriate for the main developers to be erased from the credits in an update, especially after they have worked on hundreds of fixes that had remained unpublished for years. However, several players commented that the studio is still credited in the game’s end credits, even though their initial acknowledgment has been removed.

GTA: The Trilogy, which includes Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, was released in 2021 and received criticism for its lack of visual distinction and various performance issues. The arrival of the collection on Netflix last year helped address many of these concerns, and now improvements are being implemented in other versions. This allows players to enjoy these classics on various platforms, excluding Nintendo Switch.

Additionally, a significant change is anticipated in GTA Online, as an update is planned that will allow players to establish a bounty hunting and bail bond business, among other quality-of-life improvements. While a release date hasn’t been announced yet, Rockstar Games shared some details on their blog, revealing that players will be able to engage in undercover missions in Los Santos.

Lastly, for those who have enjoyed Grand Theft Auto 5, it was announced that this game will no longer be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers starting in June, meaning fans will have a limited time to play it before its removal from the service.
