Native Union has launched a new charger called Voyage, which is perfect for those looking to optimize space in their carry-on luggage and enjoy an innovative gadget. This charger, featuring a discreet disc-like design, easily folds up, allowing for hassle-free storage in a pocket or backpack.
When opened, it reveals two chargers compatible with Qi2 technology. One side is specifically designed for iPhones with MagSafe, while the other side features a known charging connector for the Apple Watch. In this configuration, the Voyage can be placed flat, enabling the simultaneous charging of an iPhone alongside an Apple Watch or a compatible wireless charging AirPods case. However, placement may be a bit awkward depending on the type of strap the watch has. Fortunately, the watch connector can be raised, allowing for vertical charging.
Additionally, the charger presents another option: the outer sides magnetically connect, allowing for side-by-side charging of both the phone and the watch. This might be the most effective way to use it, as it activates the iPhone's standby mode, eliminating the need for an alarm clock next to the bed.
The Voyage comes with a steep price, around $100, which may lead many to think twice before purchasing, even though it includes a woven USB-C cable and a travel pouch. Personally, I would have liked it to include a third port to replace a bulkier wireless charger. However, for those looking to reduce the volume of their carry-on luggage, the Voyage offers a good alternative. It’s likely that Native Union is reserving some surprises for a future version of the charger.
