The classic Nokia Snake game is now available as a Nothing widget.

Nothing has launched an Android application called Nothing Community Widgets, aimed at showcasing tools and games for the home screen, co-created by users. This release includes a first widget that offers a version of the classic game Snake, especially remembered for its appearance on the Nokia 6110 26 years ago.

In its original version, Snake was controlled using physical buttons, as phones of that era did not have touch screens. However, in the new variant by Nothing, game control is done through swipes on the screen, and a double tap pauses the action. Despite this change in controls, the essence of the game remains: players earn points by eating red dots while avoiding crashing into themselves as they grow the snake.

The idea for the new widget was developed by Rahul Janardhanan, an artist who earlier this year designed and presented a collection of 10 concepts for potential widgets in Nothing OS. His work caught the attention of the company, leading the Nothing software team to collaborate with a community developer to bring the widget to life.

This new Snake widget and the widget application follow Nothing's initiative to work alongside its user community. In October, the company had introduced a special edition of the Nothing Phone 2A Plus, which included a design that glows in the dark, new wallpapers, and packaging designed by some of the brand's "most talented followers."
