The beta version of iOS 18.2 is now available, featuring Apple Intelligence functions.

It highlights several of the most notable features of Apple’s intelligence.

Apple has begun rolling out the first beta of iOS 18.2, just a day after presenting a release candidate for the iOS 18.1 build. This new beta version includes significant advancements in artificial intelligence. One of the highlights is the integration of ChatGPT. When users ask Siri questions that the assistant cannot address, the query will be routed to OpenAI's ChatGPT. Apple has stated that user approval is requested before sending any questions or additional material to ChatGPT, and afterward, Siri will display the response received.

A practical example would be if a user asks Siri for a quick recipe that includes tomatoes, cheese, peppers, and eggs, to which Siri, unable to respond, will turn to ChatGPT thanks to its advanced linguistic and reasoning capabilities.

Another significant improvement is the introduction of Visual Intelligence. This update allows users to point their phone’s camera at objects and receive information about them through a multimodal understanding of artificial intelligence. Features of this visual intelligence include identifying pet breeds and extracting information from signs. All data processing is done locally on the device or through Apple's Private Cloud Compute system, representing a notable advancement in terms of accessibility, particularly for individuals with visual or hearing disabilities.

Additionally, a new tool called Image Playground has been announced, which enables image generation from text, similar to other existing functionalities in the market. This tool will also facilitate the creation of personalized emojis, called Genmojis, and will feature a system that transforms sketches into more polished images. Currently, this functionality is in an early preview phase, and users will need to request access to use it.

On the other hand, the iOS 18.2 update also includes improvements to the Mail app, introducing a new category for important emails, as well as specific sections for "Transactions" and "Updates." In the coming weeks, tests of all these features will be conducted, providing detailed information about their operation and comparing them to Google’s Gemini AI tools.
