The best video games created by a single person.

Most video games require teams of dozens, and even hundreds, of developers for their creation. However, there are some passionate individuals who have managed to develop games entirely independently.

When talking about the best games for PS5, Xbox Series X, or Switch, we often think of large, massively produced titles developed by teams that can include hundreds of professionals over several years. While these titles are undoubtedly impressive and many are on the way, there is also a category of independent games created by a single developer. These games tend to be smaller in scale but stand out for their unique mechanics, experimental art and narrative, as well as a level of personality and charm that can only be achieved when one person has total control of the project.

Creating a game solo is an extremely difficult task; however, more and more individual developers are managing to launch astonishing titles with little to no external support. Here we present a selection of the best games produced exclusively by one person.

In the realm of rumors about anticipated developments, Half-Life 3 continues to generate speculation. This title is considered one of the most anticipated games of all time, partly because it has never been released. Fans of the series have analyzed every piece of news since the release of Half-Life 2, despite Valve giving no hints about what to expect. Recently, the original voice actor of the G-Man posted on X, marking his first appearance since the release of Half-Life: Alyx, promising an "unexpected surprise" for 2025. His message was in video format, using the G-Man's voice, where he mentions: "Another year already. It's good to see and hear so many of you. May the next quarter-century bring us as many unexpected surprises as the first of the millennium. Although, on the other hand, time is fluid like music. See you in the new year!"

In another context, a recent update of Windows 11 has caused issues in the game Assassin's Creed: Origins. Players have reported crashes, blue screens, and freezes, leading to an increase in negative reviews for the game. It is important to highlight that the cause of these problems is the Windows update, not the game itself. A user known as The Hidden One shared this information on X, noting that recent reviews have a mixed rating and there has been a noticeable increase in unfavorable criticism since the update. This situation is not exclusive to Assassin's Creed, as other titles have also been affected. It is a recurring issue in the realm of PC gaming, and Ubisoft has a complicated history with its releases on this platform.

Finally, as part of Epic Games' Christmas promotion, it has been announced that Sifu, one of the best action games of 2022, is available for free download until tomorrow at 11 a.m. Sifu combines fluid, cinematic martial arts combat with the typical "try again" mentality of roguelikes. Every death comes at a cost; the character revives thanks to a magical amulet but ages a bit each time. As you die, your character shows signs of aging and takes more damage, but at the same time, your strikes become more powerful. However, certain abilities may become inaccessible as the character ages, turning the experience into a fragile weapon: you can deal great damage, but a single hit can end your run.
