The Amazon video game anthology, Secret Level, will have a second season.
The date has not been confirmed yet.
Amazon continues its foray into the world of video game adaptations, announcing that its series Secret Level, an anthology of animated shorts based on various video game properties, has been renewed for a second season on Prime Video. So far, no additional details about this new installment have been revealed.
Secret Level, which recently debuted on the platform, comes from the same team that created the acclaimed animated science fiction anthology Love, Death and Robots on Netflix. The first season features 15 episodes encompassing well-known video game franchises such as Warhammer 40,000, Dungeons & Dragons, Mega Man, and Concord, a recently canceled shooter from Sony. The series has been criticized for its ambiguity, as it oscillates between the format of a television show and that of a promotional advertisement. One of its most notable episodes presents a dark and bloody reinterpretation of Pac-Man, which turned out to be linked to a game that will be released soon.
This announcement comes at a time when Amazon is looking to solidify its presence in the development and publishing of video games, as well as in adapting these pillars for its streaming service. This year, the company achieved great success with the Fallout series on Prime Video, which has also been renewed for a second season, and has complemented its offerings with a live adaptation of Yakuza. Additionally, a Tomb Raider series is in the works.
