The 2025 Record Store Day Has Been Announced, as if Another Reason to Buy More Vinyls Was Needed.

"Celebrating Culture" for RSD 2025.

April 12, 2025, is marked on the calendar as a special day for music lovers, as Record Store Day will be celebrated. This year’s edition will be the eighteenth and will feature the participation of over 270 record stores in the UK, along with thousands of others around the world, and it is expected to offer a variety of exclusive releases from established and emerging artists.

This day is considered a significant occasion for music fans, akin to a musical "Christmas," where artists unveil new releases and reissues, as well as rarities and special editions that entice enthusiasts to line up at their local record stores. The event will be supported by sponsors, including Bowers & Wilkins, Miraval, and the brewery DEYA.

One of the features that makes Record Store Day a special celebration is its emphasis on supporting independent retailers and artists. As the music landscape expands across streaming platforms like Spotify, the support for record stores becomes even more relevant, giving fans the opportunity to contribute to the local economy.

In the previous edition, the variety of artists included was remarkable, featuring participants ranging from 100 Gecs and 10,000 Maniacs to Black Sabbath and U2, highlighting the diversity in releases. Additionally, many of these records turn into collector's items, often leading to certain releases being sold at inflated prices on resale platforms.

Although Record Store Day is celebrated once a year, it is important to note that many independent stores offer new exclusive vinyls every month. This month, for example, releases from artists like Maribou State, Manic Street Preachers, and Mogwai can be found. Music enthusiasts can stay updated on these new arrivals by checking the official event website while browsing the shelves at their local stores.
