Tesla needs to solve another problem with the Cybertruck.

The Cybertruck has been recalled for the fifth time since its launch in November, this time to address a problem with the rearview camera display.

Tesla has acknowledged that a recall is underway for 27,000 units of its Cybertruck due to an issue with the rearview mirror. A recall report submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) indicates that the affected vehicles were manufactured between November 13, 2023, and September 14, 2024, suggesting that nearly the entire fleet of Cybertrucks in circulation requires this update.

The issue lies in the delay of the rear camera image, which can take up to 8 seconds to appear when shifting into reverse. This could impair the driver’s visibility regarding what is happening behind the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of accidents. Tesla has stated that it is not aware of any collisions, fatalities, or injuries related to this defect.

To address the situation, the company is rolling out a free software update that will be executed wirelessly. In the meantime, it advises owners to perform a visual check by turning their heads and using mirrors when reversing. This marks the fifth recall—and the largest so far—that affects the Cybertruck since its launch in November 2023. Previous recalls have included issues such as the throttle pedal cover, small warning lights on the instrument panel, windshield wiper failures, and the risk of trim pieces detaching from the body.

In a different context, the company has expressed interest in expanding its vehicle lineup, revealing that it is working on three new models that would join its current offerings, bringing the total to eight vehicles. Although many details about these new cars are still unknown, there have been rumors and some hints from Tesla itself suggesting new possibilities for its product line.
