Tesla Model Q: Are the rumors about the new affordable Tesla model true?

Finally, a Tesla priced under $30,000?

It has been mentioned that a new Tesla model, potentially called the Tesla Model Q, may be on the horizon, providing an affordable option for consumers. A report from Deutsche Bank indicates that this electric vehicle will be launched in the first half of 2025, with an expected starting price of less than $30,000.

Travis Axelrod, Tesla's head of investor relations, discussed this new model with the bank, which under the code name "Redwood," would be 15% smaller and 30% lighter than the current Model 3. Additionally, it is suggested that the production cost for Tesla would be about half compared to other models. The report also mentions that there will be two battery options (53kWh and 75kWh) and single and dual motor variants.

However, it is important to take this information with caution. Becky Peterson from The Wall Street Journal confirms that Axelrod referred to the new model but clarifies that the name Model Q may be a designation from Deutsche Bank and not from Tesla. It is also mentioned that the car could be built on the company’s existing production lines, and with subsidies, its price could be below $30,000, although the actual starting price would be $37,499.

Despite the excitement generated by this news, the report does not provide concrete details about the vehicle’s dimensions and cost. Tesla had previously announced that a more affordable vehicle would arrive in the first half of 2025, but no further specifications were provided. Additionally, Elon Musk had indicated that a $25,000 Tesla model that is not a Robotaxi will not become a reality.

The current situation leaves some uncertainty. While the arrival of a more affordable Tesla is anticipated next year, it is unclear whether it will be a completely new model or a more budget-friendly version of the Model 3.
