Target Darts incorporates smart technology into the game.

The Target Darts Omni is a device made up of a series of cameras that is placed around your dartboard and takes care of keeping score automatically.

The fun of playing darts is often affected by the constant need to perform calculations to keep track of progress in the game. To solve this dilemma, British manufacturer Target Darts is making its debut at CES with its automatic scoring system called Omni, which promises to simplify the process and allow players to enjoy the game without distractions.

Omni consists of a ring that magnetically attaches to a compatible board. This device is equipped with four 1080p cameras and an LED light strip. As darts are thrown, the system uses computer vision to identify the location of the darts on the board. The points scored will be displayed on a nearby computer or tablet, and can even be projected onto a large screen. As an added bonus, players will receive pre-recorded voice announcements informing them how many points they need for their next throw, replicating the experience of a professional match.

Although Omni is not yet available, when launched, it will allow players to use it alongside Target Darts’ Virt camera. This system consists of two webcams: one focused on the board and the other on the player, enabling the possibility of competing online against others, whether friends or players of similar skill levels. During the lockdown period of the COVID pandemic, the professional darts league in the UK operated this way for several months. Interestingly, one of the standout players, Gary Anderson, was unable to participate in a tournament due to the slow speed of his home Wi-Fi connection.

The Omni scoring system will begin shipping from January 31 and will be available in the UK for a price of £449.95 (approximately $556). For those wishing to purchase a model in the United States, it will be necessary to find a distributor, the list of which can be found on the company's website.
