T-Mobile will increase prices for some of its valuable old plans.
T-Mobile claims that the price increase is a response to "rising costs."
T-Mobile has informed some of its customers with older plans that a price increase is on the way. According to reports from various users in a Reddit community, the company sent text messages notifying them that starting April 2, their rates will increase by $5 per line per month.
A recently revealed internal memo explains that this measure is due to the "rising costs" the company is facing. It was mentioned that affected customers will receive the corresponding notification before the end of the day. However, it is unclear which older plans will be impacted by this increase; it was specified that subscribers to the Go5G, Go5G Plus, and Go5G Next plans will not see an increase in their rates.
It is worth mentioning that T-Mobile had already raised the rates of some of these previous plans by $2 to $5 last year. The memo states that "no line that has previously received a rate increase will suffer an additional adjustment this time." While most customers will not be affected, the company notes that they are finalizing the price adjustments initiated last year due to the same issue of rising costs. Additionally, they emphasized that these changes will not impact customers who have Price Lock.
