Sony WH-1000XM6: Rumored Release Date and Possible Leaks.
Rumors about Sony are starting to take shape and become concrete information.
The Sony WH-1000XM6 could be closer than expected, as the WH-1000XM5, from several generations ago, continue to be a standout option in the noise-canceling headphone market. However, competition is fierce, and the WH-1000XM4 is still considered the best by many experts. To maintain its leading position, Sony needs to keep innovating in its flagship line.
According to rumors, the launch of the WH-1000XM6 is expected to happen soon, although not immediately. In June, a report suggested that while the LinkBuds models would receive an update in 2024, the WH-1000XM5 and WF-1000XM5 would not. Instead, it seems Sony plans to do so during the first six months of next year. This forecast gains more credibility as it has been confirmed by the recent release of new LinkBuds models.
Additionally, another rumor circulating on social media suggests that Sony is interested in synchronizing the update cycles of its two main product lines, which would also point to a release in 2025, coinciding with the second anniversary of the WF-1000XM5. While leaks about the WH-1000XM6 are scarce, a tech blog has identified a new product code in import documents that could correspond to one of these models, although certainty is lacking.
Current models such as the WH-1000XM5 showed excellent performance in previous reviews, but experts are wondering what improvements might come in the next generation. Some areas of interest include noise-canceling capability, battery life, water resistance, foldable design, and support for Dolby Atmos spatial audio.
It is also mentioned that the inclusion of USB-C could provide a more accessible high-resolution audio experience from phones and laptops, which could give Sony an edge over other competitors.
