Shazam will transform into a musical fortune teller in 2025, anticipating the songs you will hear instead of those you have already heard.
Shazam has the ability to foresee the future thanks to science!
Shazam has introduced a new feature called Fast Forward 2025, which promises to predict songs that may capture your interest in the future. This process is based on data collected by Shazam and editorial selections, meaning it focuses on songs that users have not yet discovered, as it relies on information gathered from tracks that have been identified.
Every day, for a period of five days, 10 new artists will be announced, starting first with dance music, and then moving on to genres such as Latin, country/rock, pop, and hip-hop/R&B. The first predictions were revealed on January 6.
With this initiative, Shazam aims to promote emerging artists who, according to their data and their editorial team's review, are poised for a successful year. In fact, it is highlighted that 80% of the selections for 2023 managed to enter the Top 100 of Apple Music, underscoring Shazam's involvement in helping these talents reach a global audience.
It is worth mentioning that some critics might consider these choices to be influenced by the efforts of record labels, as several of the featured artists have collaborated with well-known names and are relatively recognized in their genres. Additionally, for a song to appear in Shazam's data, it must be receiving airtime on platforms like radio, television, or streaming services, which means the audience must have already heard the music beforehand.
However, what is truly relevant is that the music selection curated by Shazam is of high quality. On its first day of dance music recommendations, it includes diverse artists such as Joe Hunt, a veteran figure from the UK speed garage scene, Also Astir with his folksy house from North Macedonia, VCSION with his Brazilian house, and Prophecy representing Spanish techno.
