Seagate introduces its first HAMR technology-based hard drive.

The Seagate Exos M hard drive will be available in 30 or 32 TB capacity versions when it is released for sale.

Seagate is about to launch a new model of hard drive that utilizes Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) technology, which has been previously announced. According to reports, a new sales page has appeared on Seagate's website, revealing the Exos M 30TM, a 32TB hard drive that offers 3TB per platter, boasting energy efficiency that is three times greater per terabyte compared to other hard drives.

This hard drive is the first to employ the company's Mozaic 3+ platform and represents a significant advancement in magnetic storage technology. The HAMR process involves applying localized heat to the disk material at the time of writing, allowing for smaller areas and greater storage on each platter. Innovations like this could pave the way for hard drives of up to 50TB in the future.

Although an official release date for the Exos M has not yet been announced, interested parties can register to receive updates on its availability through Seagate's product page.
