Samsung will buy your old phone with no additional conditions.

Samsung has implemented a new program that allows users to sell their old Galaxy phone without needing to purchase a new device at the same time.

Samsung has introduced its new Galaxy Easy Reward program, which allows users to sell their old smartphones without the need to purchase a new device. This program is designed as an alternative to recycling centers and used phone buyback programs, making the selling process easier for users.

The program will launch online in South Korea on January 14, and the company will purchase a wide variety of models. In addition to the Galaxy S20 series, the S21, S22, and S23 will also be accepted, as well as Galaxy Z Fold 3, Z Fold 4, and Z Fold 5 models. The list also includes Galaxy Z Flip 3, Z Flip 4, and Z Flip 5; however, the latest models from the Galaxy S24 series or the most recent Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 are not included in this initiative.

The value assigned to each phone will depend on its physical condition. The Galaxy Easy Reward system will first provide an estimate, and the final price will be determined once the device is sent in. Samsung will evaluate the phones using an unusual grading system that includes ratings of "Excellent" or "Good," which indicate that the phone can be resold, and "Recycle," which means the device will be dismantled for parts.

It seems that Samsung is also willing to acquire phones from other brands, although the information is not entirely clear in the press release translated from Korean. Samsung Electronics Vice President Jung Ho-jin commented on the goal of this program, stating he hopes it will increase the long-term value of Galaxy products and contribute to a circular economy.

Additionally, in the used device market, it is observed that the iPhone tends to retain its value better compared to smartphones from other brands. For example, an iPhone 16 Plus in optimal condition can reach prices of up to $763, while a Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus could sell for around $613. By improving the resale value of Galaxy devices, Samsung hopes to encourage more users to choose its latest models.

Initially, the Galaxy Easy Reward program will be available in South Korea, with plans for expansion to other regions in the future.
