Samsung prepares to compete with the Google Pixel 8a.
The Galaxy S25 is not the only Samsung phone we expect to see soon. New details have leaked about the Galaxy A56, which seems to be an excellent alternative to the Google Pixel 8a.
Samsung plans to launch its new Galaxy S25 smartphone line on January 22. Shortly after, the company may introduce a new mid-range device to compete with the Google Pixel 8a. Recent reports indicate that the Galaxy A56 has obtained several certifications in China, suggesting that its launch in that market is imminent. These certifications have revealed specifications and official images.
The images suggest that the Galaxy A56 will feature a camera bar similar to that of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Additionally, it will include an LED flash on the right side, and the volume and power buttons will be on a structure resembling a "button island." This design is similar to that of the Galaxy A15, A25, and the current A55 models.
Regarding its hardware, it has been mentioned that the Galaxy A56 will be powered by the Exynos 1580 chip and will feature a rear camera setup that includes a 50 MP main sensor, a 12 MP ultra-wide sensor, a 5 MP depth sensor, and a 5,000 mAh battery. Notably, for the first time in a Galaxy A series device, the A56 is expected to support charging speeds of up to 45W.
These advancements are expected to make the Galaxy A56 a significant improvement over its predecessor, the A55, which was launched in March 2024 and received criticism for its uncomfortable design and lack of wireless charging, among other issues. Like the Galaxy S25 models, the A56 will be released with Android 15 and One UI 7.
Additionally, renders have leaked confirming some design details of the Galaxy A56. According to these images, the device will not just be a modified version of a previous model, but seems to combine the best elements from various phones into a single construction. All buttons will be on the right side with a thumb anchor, while the rest of the phone will feature a flat design.
On the other hand, it has been revealed that the charging speed of the Galaxy A56 could increase significantly, reaching 45W, compared to the current 25W of the A55. A certificate from the Chinese government’s Quality Certification Center (CQC), which ensures that the devices meet the required standards in the country, mentions the model SM-A5660, indicating that the Galaxy A56 is on its way.
