Samsung introduces a pair of gaming monitors featuring a 500 Hz OLED panel.
Samsung is organizing everything necessary to launch a new series of OLED monitors aimed at gaming, which will be part of its Odyssey line.
Samsung is gearing up to dazzle at CES 2025 with the launch of several OLED monitors aimed at gaming enthusiasts. Among them, the standout is the Odyssey OLED G6, a 27-inch QD-OLED monitor with a resolution of 1440p that achieves an impressive 500 Hz refresh rate. This advancement marks significant progress in OLED display technology, especially since last year we saw models like the Alienware 27 QD-OLED, which offered 360 Hz at the same resolution, and the LG UltraGear Dual Mode OLED with a maximum of 480 Hz at 1080p. With the Odyssey OLED G6, gamers will be able to enjoy the full 1440p resolution accompanied by an incredible refresh rate.
However, this is not the only monitor that Samsung will unveil. The Odyssey OLED G8 will also be launched, which, although it has the same 27-inch size, offers a 4K resolution and a refresh rate of 240 Hz. Previous tests with this type of panel, such as the Asus ROG Swift PG27UCDM, have shown outstanding results.
Both monitors will feature support for Samsung's HDR10+ standard, which uses dynamic HDR metadata to adjust tone mapping and dynamic range for each frame. This ensures a much smoother and content-adapted HDR experience, whether for gaming or movie viewing. Additionally, Samsung incorporates OLED Safeguard+ technology in these displays to prevent burn-in issues.
Details about specific pricing or release dates have not yet been revealed, although the monitors are expected to be showcased mid-year, and their cost is anticipated to exceed $1,000.
