Salesforce: Artificial Intelligence Could Mark the Beginning of a New Era for Software.

The incorporation of artificial intelligence systems in work tasks represents a monumental advancement, according to Salesforce.

With the growing adoption of artificial intelligence tools in various companies worldwide, the focus is on maximizing the potential of these technologies, enhancing efficiency and productivity. Salesforce has established itself as a leader in this field, highlighted by its recent Dreamforce 2024 event, which centered on artificial intelligence, particularly on AI agents, which the company considers the future of technology.

According to CEO Marc Benioff, agents represent "the third wave of AI," indicating that Salesforce sees this advancement as a crucial path to follow. In a recent interview, Patrick Stokes, Global Executive Vice President of Products and Industries at Salesforce, mentioned that throughout its 25-year history, the company has based its innovation strategy on helping its clients navigate various technological waves. As generative AI gained traction, Salesforce reflected on how to incorporate this technology comprehensively into its system.

Stokes emphasized that the trend focused on identifying the most powerful language model and its technical characteristics; however, Salesforce aims to connect data and actions to create real value. During Dreamforce 2024, the company demonstrated how this new era of artificial intelligence would alleviate the burden of implementing complex technologies for clients.

The advantages of platforms like Agentforce were highlighted, promising significant opportunities for companies of all sizes by introducing a new form of technology. Stokes pointed out that, through artificial intelligence, the logical layer of applications can be replaced, thereby facilitating software delivery without the need for manual programming. This advancement is considered a significant milestone, as language models will continue to improve over time.

Zahra Bahrololoumi, CEO of Salesforce UKI, emphasized the magnitude of the opportunity at hand, noting that companies are recognizing gains in productivity and the ability to enrich their workforce, while reducing burnout and improving customer engagement. However, there is concern that these technological advancements could lead to job reductions. Salesforce seeks to counter this perception, insisting that technology is meant to complement human work, not replace it.

"Whenever there are technological changes, there are also job changes, moving staff from lower-value jobs to higher-value jobs," Stokes commented. While the impact on the total number of jobs is uncertain, he stressed that history suggests these innovations often bring economic benefits.
