Roblox introduces two new safety policies for the protection of children.

Roblox is introducing new safety policies aimed at providing better protection for the young users of the platform.

Roblox is introducing new safety policies designed to better protect young users on the platform. Last month, certain changes in the game were anticipated, and recently more information has been shared on the Roblox developers' forum about these new rules. An important aspect is that a higher percentage of Roblox content will no longer be available to players under the age of 13.

The first part of these new policies states that, starting December 3, users under the age of 13 will not be able to play, search for, or discover experiences that are not rated on the platform. However, they will still have the ability to view information on the experience detail pages via a direct link. Roblox requires creators to ensure that the information on their detail pages—such as thumbnails, titles, and descriptions—meets the criteria set by the company, whether for all ages or for those over 9 years old.

The second part of these policies will limit access to Roblox Social Hangouts and user-generated experiences to those over the age of 13. This rule will come into effect on November 18.

Roblox has had a complicated history regarding the safety of its young and preteen users. Since 2018, at least two dozen individuals have been arrested by U.S. authorities due to allegations of abuse or kidnapping of child victims they met through the platform.
