Ray-Ban and Meta announce new limited-edition smart glasses, but availability will be very limited.
Ray-Ban and Meta are preparing to launch another 3,600 units of clear glasses.
Meta has revealed that it will launch a new limited edition of Ray-Ban Meta glasses this month, with promotional images indicating they will be transparent, similar to the previous limited edition design. However, this time they are expected to be even harder to obtain, as production will be limited to just 3,600 units.
From the images, we can see the Ray-Ban logo on a clear frame that showcases the hardware of the smart glasses, but there is still little information about the design. The previous version used the Wayfarer frame, but it is speculated that this new edition might feature designs like the Skyler or Headliner, which have rounder lenses. However, there is a possibility that a bold design similar to the frames that A$AP Rocky, the new Creative Director of Ray-Ban, presented during Milan Fashion Week may be launched, aligning with the "straight from the runway" comment that appears in Meta's promotional material.
Another aspect that remains unconfirmed is whether the glasses will come with the same limited edition black case as the previous version, instead of the standard brown one, although many hope so.
At this time, Meta has not indicated a price for these new glasses, but it is estimated that, since the previous version cost $429, this new edition could be more expensive than the traditional model and perhaps even more than the last limited edition. This is because, while the last round consisted of 7,500 pairs, this one will only have 3,600, as suggested by the '0001/3600' imprint on the frames in the promotional image on their website.
The launch is anticipated to be challenging at the time of purchase, as there is no exact release date, although a 'Notify Me' button can be found on the site for updates when the glasses become available. Resellers have proven to remain active in the market for limited campaigns, increasing the risk of them selling out quickly. Additionally, it is advisable to be cautious when purchasing these glasses from unofficial retailers, as scammers may take advantage of the excitement surrounding the launch.
