Peacock to Launch Multiview Feature for Election Day, Followed by Premier League.

Peacock will launch a multi-view experience with three screens on Election Day and will reintroduce it in December for English Premier League matches.

Peacock, the streaming service, is expanding its offerings with the addition of a multiview feature just in time for the November 5 festivities, providing a curated experience that will allow viewers to watch up to three broadcasts simultaneously. Instead of offering a choose-your-own format, this multiview will focus on delivering breaking news, data analysis, and real-time results. Users will be able to navigate between the screens, switch the audio from one to another, and play a broadcast in full screen.

The three views will include: NBC News Now, where journalists like Lester Holt and Savannah Guthrie will provide news coverage and real-time results from key states; an exclusive channel for Steve Kornacki, who will handle polling analysis on election night; and a third feed that will present a map titled "Election Results and Power Balance" from the NBC News Decision Desk. According to Kelly Campbell, President of Peacock and NBCUniversal's Direct-to-Consumer division, this expansion of the multiview is a step towards a more dynamic and user-centric streaming experience.

It is important to note that the winner of the presidential race may not be known on election night. However, this should not deter users from enjoying the wealth of informative programming available. The multiview experience will begin at 6 p.m. ET on November 5 and will continue until around 2 a.m. the next day. Additionally, on December 4, this same feature will return for English Premier League matches, allowing viewers to watch up to four games at the same time.

In other news, Peacock has decided to eliminate its free option for new subscribers, reducing its subscription offerings to two paid plans: one for $5 per month and another for $10 per month. Those who are already on the free option will still be able to access limited content without needing to switch plans immediately.

Finally, Peacock has also improved its accessibility by allowing Amazon Fire TV device users to add the Peacock app, something that has been anticipated since the service launched in 2020. With the upcoming Tokyo Olympics event, this addition is timely to attract a larger audience.
