Outlook Users Warned About Opening Over 60 Emails, as It Could Cause Software Crash.

Outlook Classic is experiencing crashes.

Microsoft has acknowledged a problem in the classic version of Outlook for Office 365 users, which causes the application to unexpectedly close when opening more than 60 emails at the same time. This issue generates a memory error message and results in the application closing, potentially leading affected users to lose their progress while multitasking.

The company has confirmed that a team of engineers is investigating this situation. In the meantime, users are advised to avoid opening more than 60 emails at once. Among the error messages that may appear are: "Sorry, we're having trouble opening this item. This might be temporary, but if it happens again, you may want to restart Outlook. Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again." A different message may also appear that states: "Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again."

Although the company is working on a solution, any alternative methods to mitigate the issue could introduce new complications. Microsoft warned that increasing the process quota could result in overall system instability, suggesting that any adjustments could have negative consequences.

The origin of the problem has not been confirmed, although it is suggested that user interface objects might be responsible for the unexpected closures of Classic Outlook. For now, users should limit the number of emails they open or consider increasing the process quota for user objects while waiting for a patch from Microsoft.
