OnePlus might also abandon curved edges.
The flat style has returned.
Images of the upcoming flagship model from OnePlus, the OnePlus 13, have leaked, generating interest due to its flatter design compared to recent phones from the brand. These images, which were published on Weibo and then removed, show a device with straight edges, unlike the curves that have characterized previous models.
This slight change in design could place OnePlus on the list of manufacturers that have opted for a flat-edge style, which many consider more ergonomic. This trend began in 2020 when Apple released the iPhone 12, returning to a more classic design reminiscent of the iPhone 4 and 5 models. Since then, other brands have adopted this aesthetic: Samsung started offering flat edges in its Galaxy S series with the S22, and Google's latest Pixel 9 line also features this design. Motorola, for its part, has incorporated flat edges into several of its phones this year, although it maintains curves in its "Edge" line.
Although this design detail might not be crucial for most users, as many tend to use cases immediately after acquiring a device, tech enthusiasts may find it significant. The straight corners are not only more comfortable to hold the phone but also make it easier to lift it from a surface. Additionally, they could be considered more aesthetically pleasing. Despite many current phones adopting a look similar to that of iPhones, it is understandable that manufacturers prefer a tried-and-true design.
The wait to learn more about the OnePlus 13 could soon come to an end, as the company seems to have plans to launch this device in China sometime this month.
