New smart doorbells and security cameras use AI to greet visitors and deter intruders.
Swann introduces new home defense systems based on artificial intelligence.
Swann recently showcased its new home security technology at CES 2025, highlighting the MaxRanger line, which includes a smart doorbell and new security cameras. This innovative approach aims to solve the dilemma of how to interact with visitors at the door when no one is home.
The new MaxRanger4K Video Doorbell is a wireless doorbell that offers ultra-high-definition video, both day and night, without requiring subscription fees. This device can communicate with visitors instead of the homeowner having to do so, which can be helpful for those who are busy. The MaxRanger4K has a wireless range of up to 300 meters from the base, a battery life that can reach three months per charge, and 64GB of storage.
In addition to the doorbell, Swann has developed several security cameras that are also part of the MaxRanger series. These cameras, which do not require additional fees and offer 4K video recording, provide greater security coverage around the home. For example, the Mini model can be placed 300 meters from the hub, the MaxRanger4K Max offers a range of 600 meters, and the Pro model reaches up to 1,000 meters.
An interesting addition is the Xtreem4K, equipped with the SwannShield AI Defender automatic response system. This security camera is also wireless and features 4K video recording, a rechargeable battery lasting three months, and local recordings of up to 32GB. What sets the Xtreem4K apart is its motion response capability, which not only detects intruders but can also interact with them by determining their intent, whether by recognizing desired visitors or activating alarms in the face of threats.
All of these devices are expected to be available in the U.S., U.K., and Australian markets, and while their effectiveness still needs to be evaluated, confidence in Swann's technology is high given the quality of their previous products.
