New report reveals extensive espionage by telecommunications hackers linked to China.

New details are emerging about the cyber attack on telecommunications companies in the United States, carried out by a group linked to China, which targeted U.S. officials and campaign staff.

New details continue to emerge about the hack perpetrated by a group linked to China that affected telecommunications companies in the United States, specifically targeting U.S. officials and campaign staff. A recent report indicates that the hackers' access was even broader than previously reported, potentially affecting the communications of thousands of Americans.

It was recently mentioned that FBI investigators suspect that the hacking group, known as "Salt Typhoon," accessed call logs and SMS messages. This group allegedly directed its attacks at the phones of diplomats and government officials, as well as individuals connected to presidential campaigns.

Sources indicate that the attackers, believed to be operating for a Chinese intelligence agency, may have spent over eight months infiltrating U.S. telecommunications infrastructure. During this time, they could have gathered data on thousands of individuals who had contact with the selected targets.

The report reveals that although the hackers focused on a small number of political and national security figures deemed high-value, they managed to exploit routers used by telecommunications companies. This gave them the ability to access the phone information of virtually any American who was a customer of a compromised provider, including major companies like AT&T and Verizon. Both companies have chosen not to comment on the matter.
