"New 55-Inch 4K OLED TV from Sansui for Only $799."

It is uncommon to find an OLED TV that launches for less than $1,000.

Last week, Sansui unveiled its new 55-inch OLED TV, model S55VOUG, which offers 4K resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. This model is already available in the U.S. market with a price range between $799 and $899, depending on the promotions of each retailer. According to Victor Elmann, senior vice president of marketing at Elitelux and Sansui, the list price is set at the higher end of that range, although it can currently be found at Micro Center for the lower amount.

The launch is considered noteworthy, as "budget" OLED TVs typically have prices above $1,000 unless there are temporary discounts. For example, last year, Sharp launched a similar Roku TV with a price of $1,499.99, while LG's B4 model hit the market at $1,699. In comparison, the new Sansui TV falls in a more accessible price range, similar to some Mini-LED models like the Hisense U7 55-inch.

The Sansui OLED TV is equipped with Google TV and features four HDMI ports, two of which are HDMI 2.1 and one supports eARC. It also includes gamer-oriented features such as variable refresh rate and automatic low latency mode. In terms of sound quality, the device has two built-in speakers, including a subwoofer, and is compatible with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

An interesting feature offered by Sansui is the karaoke mode, which supposedly removes vocals from YouTube videos in real-time. Additionally, it seems that this feature allows the lyrics to be displayed on the screen, similar to what Apple Music Sing does on Apple TV. Although the effectiveness of this feature may vary, the TV remains an affordable option within the available OLED range. There is also a wide variety of karaoke versions of various songs on YouTube to enjoy.

Finally, Sansui mentioned in its announcement that other retailers like Amazon and Walmart will also offer its new OLED TV. For now, Newegg appears to be the only other place to purchase it, with a price of $899.99.
