Netflix teams up with Duolingo ahead of the premiere of Squid Game's second season, and I didn't think that bird could be more frightening.

Duolingo, the popular language learning app, has established a collaboration with Netflix aimed at making it easier for users to learn Korean. This partnership includes more than 40 words and phrases taken from the famous series 'Squid Game', as part of a campaign titled "Learn Korean or Else."

With the arrival of the second season of 'Squid Game', many fans of the series are eager for the return of this acclaimed show. While many will choose to watch it with subtitles or in dubbed versions, Duolingo aims to help users learn Korean in an innovative way. The "or else" campaign is designed to motivate users to immerse themselves in the language, and for this purpose, the iconic green owl from the app has donned a costume of the feared "Pink Guards" from the series.

Magno Herran, Vice President of Brand Marketing and Partnerships at Netflix, commented on this collaboration, highlighting the similarities between Duo, the owl, and the Pink Guards, both figures with a determined and threatening presence. This relationship has led to Duo wearing the Pink Guards' uniform and various promotional activities that will excite fans of the show.

As the premiere of the new season of 'Squid Game' approaches, users will see Duo in the app, encouraging them to participate in Korean lessons. Additionally, Duolingo ads will appear in the form of advertisements on Netflix, ensuring that users cannot escape its presence.

The company also announced that users will experience lessons that include iconic phrases from the series such as "dolgana", "Trust no one", "Let's play", and "You've been eliminated", which will be mixed with regular Korean lessons, making the learning process less intimidating, though the implicit pressure characteristic of Duo will always remain.

This strategy comes at a time when Netflix has improved its dubbing methods, seeking to enhance the quality of its productions in languages other than English. So, if a user feels overwhelmed by Duolingo's lessons, they can always turn to dubbing as an alternative.
