Microsoft will invest $80 billion in data centers this year.

Microsoft is investing significantly in artificial intelligence data centers, allocating most of these funds to projects located in the United States.

Microsoft has shared an extensive analysis of its vision for the development of artificial intelligence over the next four years, in the context of the upcoming Trump administration. The company has announced a total investment of $80 billion in AI-enabled data centers by the year 2025. These centers are being built with the goal of training and deploying AI models, as well as enhancing their cloud-based applications. Of this global budget, more than half will be allocated to the construction of data centers in the United States.

The company emphasized that the advancements achieved so far in AI within the industry would not have been possible "without new partnerships based on large-scale infrastructure investments." Microsoft has also urged the new administration to increase government support for promoting artificial intelligence in the country, suggesting an increase in funding to the National Science Foundation and U.S. universities for research.

Microsoft acknowledged that artificial intelligence "will disrupt the economy and displace some jobs"; however, it expressed optimism by stating that "AI will create new opportunities that will outweigh many of the future challenges." The key, according to the company, is to train Americans to use AI as a tool in their jobs, similar to how they currently use smartphones and laptops.

Finally, the company identified promoting U.S. AI exports as a critical priority for 2025. There is anticipated competition between the United States and China to expand their technologies to other countries, so the country needs to implement a smart strategy, as "the race will be won by the first player to act the fastest."
