In an interview, he mentioned that if he were a teenager today, he would focus on a side project centered around prompt engineering, given the increasing demand for AI-related skills. Prompt engineering has become one of the most sought-after skills, although many still don't know how to write effective prompts.

Cuban explained that he would start by learning to write prompts for AI language models like OpenAI's ChatGPT or Google's Gemini, helping his friends apply them to their school assignments. Additionally, he emphasized that he would also target small and medium-sized businesses that are not yet familiar with AI, offering his knowledge even if he were only 16 years old.

A February LendingTree report indicated that more than half of Generation Z in the U.S. engages in side projects. Prompt engineering is an especially lucrative opportunity, involving the creation of queries for chatbots in order to obtain desired responses. This process involves designing inputs that guide AI models like GPT-4 to produce specific outputs, combining art and science to enhance the quality of AI-generated content.

Cuban's journey, which began by selling garbage bags door-to-door, stands in stark contrast to traditional business models. While his early ventures focused on tangible goods like baseball cards and stamps, his hypothetical AI side project reflects the opportunities offered in the digital age. After a brief career in banking following his studies, Cuban fully committed to entrepreneurship, selling his first company, a software startup called MicroSolutions, to CompuServe for $6 million in 1990. His second big project, Broadcast.com, propelled him to billionaire status after selling it to Yahoo for $5.7 billion in 1999.
