Mario Kart World will arrive on Switch 2 with 24-player races and a price of $80.

The latest Mario racing game features driving on rough terrain.

The arrival of Mario Kart World will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, coinciding with its release in stores on June 5. This confirmation was made during a special Nintendo Direct event, where an innovative feature was revealed: the ability to drive off-road. Now, players will be able to "virtually drive anywhere," whether sliding down railings, jumping walls, or going off the track. Additionally, a mode called Free Roam will be introduced, allowing players to drive and enjoy the scenery with friends, featuring characters like Yoshi at the wheel.

With a title like Mario Kart World, the tracks will be set in various regions within an interconnected game world. A more immersive experience is also promised, as the environment will change according to the time of day and weather conditions. In the case of a Grand Prix with four races, players will have to drive between different tracks, and their performance during this journey will affect their final ranking.

Furthermore, a new mode called Knockout Tour will be introduced, which will take participants from one end of the world to the other, but with elimination checkpoints. To avoid being eliminated, players must stay above the position displayed on the screen, such as eighth place. Another surprise is that the competition will increase with the inclusion of 24 drivers.

Although the announcement of a new Mario Kart game for the Switch 2 was not unexpected, a preview had already been shown in January. Now, Nintendo has provided a more detailed look on its website and YouTube.

Unfortunately, it has been confirmed that the price of the game will be $80 at its launch in June, although there is the option to purchase a bundle that includes the console and the game for $500, which represents a savings of $30.

Nintendo is expected to share more details about Mario Kart World during an upcoming Nintendo Direct broadcast scheduled for April 17.
