Manchester City allows fans to create their new kit using artificial intelligence.
The players will wear the uniform, designed by artificial intelligence, during the 2026-2027 season.
Manchester City has launched a competition inviting its fans to create the design for its future jersey using artificial intelligence. The winning design will be worn by the players during the 2026-2027 season as the club's third official kit, and it will also be available for public sale.
In collaboration with Puma, an AI-driven uniform generator has been developed by the company DeepObjects. To participate, users must register and submit a prompt describing the design they are looking for. Additionally, they need to select a style that the AI will apply to generate the design, with options like "abstract," "emotional brushstrokes," or "dreamlike visions."
Once the prompt is entered, the Puma AI Creator generates four distinct options displayed on a virtual uniform, allowing users to customize elements such as the collar, trim colors, and logos. Participants receive 15 credits to create their designs, with each creation costing one credit. However, only two of these creations can be submitted to the competition, which will end on December 20.
Team players Ederson, Stefan Ortega, and Rico Lewis have already used the Puma AI Creator to design a goalkeeper jersey inspired by a goal net, which will become the first AI-generated football shirt to be worn in a match.
This announcement comes at a challenging time for the club, which is experiencing a downturn in performance and is awaiting the outcome of an investigation related to breaches of Premier League financial regulations.
