LG C5: everything we know so far about LG's mid-range OLED TV.

All the first news about LG's most popular OLED series.

The LG C5 was unveiled in January during CES 2025, as part of LG's new line of OLED TVs for that year. Although details are still sparse, it seems that the changes from its predecessor, the LG C4, will be minimal. The improvements include increased brightness, optimized processing, and the latest version of LG's smart TV platform, webOS 25.

The LG C4 received praise in 2024 for its impressive contrast, an extensive list of features, and availability in various sizes. This model represented a significant advancement compared to the LG C3 from 2023 and established itself among the best OLED TVs on the market.

We had the opportunity to see the LG C5 in person, and while it looked striking, it did not appear to differ much from the C4. This was only a brief glimpse during CES 2025, so we will await more thorough testing before making a final judgment.

As for confirmed information about the C5, prices and release dates have not yet been revealed. Its cost can be anticipated based on the launch prices of the C4. When the C4 debuted in March 2024, it saw a slight price increase compared to the LG C3 across all available sizes. The launch prices for the C4 were as follows:

  • OLED83C4: $5,399 / £5,999 / AU$7,999
  • OLED77C4: $3,699 / £3,799 / AU$5,999
  • OLED65C4: $2,699 / £2,699 / AU$4,299
  • OLED55C4: $1,999 / £1,899 / AU$3,299
  • OLED48C4: $1,599 / £1,499 / AU$2,499
  • OLED42C4: $1,499 / £1,399 / AU$2,199

A price increase for the LG C4 was expected due to inflation, which was confirmed, with all models being approximately $200 more expensive than those of the C3. A similar increase in prices is anticipated for the C5, again due to inflationary reasons. Following LG's tradition, it is estimated that the C5 will launch between March and April 2025.

The size range of the LG C5 will remain at the usual 42, 48, 55, 65, 77, and 83 inches. In terms of updates, not many changes have been confirmed over the LG C4. The C5 will continue to use an OLED Evo panel, rather than a Micro Lens Array (MLA) panel as some had anticipated, suggesting there won’t be drastic changes in brightness.

Although the brightness metrics have not been officially specified, it has been confirmed that the Philips OLED810, another OLED model from 2025, will have a 15% increase in brightness to 1,500 nits. If the C5 follows a similar trend, it could reach a maximum brightness of around 1,225 nits, although this remains speculative.

The C5 will incorporate the AI Alpha A9 Gen8 processor, enabling new AI features and support for webOS 25. Some of the innovations include AI Search, which automatically seeks content, AI Concierge, which offers recommendations based on viewing history, and a more advanced chatbot.

In terms of gaming, the LG C5 will maintain the same features as the C4. While the new G5 supports 165Hz, the C5 will not receive updates in this regard. However, it is expected to include four HDMI 2.1 ports with 4K at 144Hz, support for Dolby Vision in games, as well as VRR and ALLM.

There are still some aspects to clarify, such as the specifications of the C5's integrated speaker system. The C4 featured a 2.2-channel Dolby Atmos system, and while it is likely that the C5 will maintain this configuration, a potential upgrade that includes a built-in subwoofer would be well received.
