Leaks of the iPhone 17 "Air" anticipate curious hardware features.
According to an analyst, the upcoming "slim" model of the iPhone 17 series will take a rather straightforward approach to its internal hardware and will focus more on its aesthetic design.
Apple is preparing a major refresh of its iPhone line for next year, focusing on several intriguing updates. One of the standout models is the “iPhone 17 Slim,” also referred to in some rumors as the “Air” variant. So far, leaks have centered on the device's notable aesthetic change, which could make it the thinnest iPhone of all time, departing from Apple’s current design language. According to renders circulating on social media, a completely metallic design is expected.
Jeff Pu, an analyst at Haitong International, has shared additional details about the phone's internal hardware. The display is anticipated to measure 6.6 inches, with a Face ID module at the top. In his note, the analyst mentions that the device will feature an aluminum body, which will help maintain a lightweight profile. Unlike Apple’s Pro models from recent years, which use stainless steel or titanium composites, this new “Slim” model aims to provide a lighter alternative.
The iPhone 17 Slim is expected to use a next-generation A19 processor, manufactured using a 3nm process, similar to the A18 series that powers the iPhone 16 line. The device will come with 8GB of RAM, although the storage capacity has not been specified.
In terms of photography, this model will feature a single 48-megapixel rear camera, a common feature in the iPhone range. On the front, users will find a 24-megapixel selfie camera.
Interestingly, some analysts believe that the iPhone 17 Slim will be a mid-range model, while other reports suggest it could be the most expensive phone Apple has developed, with a price exceeding $1,200. This new model will replace the "Plus" version in the main iPhone lineup, marking a second significant adjustment by the company in less than five years, following the brief existence of the "mini" variant.
It is important to note that these are very early projections about a phone that is still almost a year away from its market launch. Therefore, a critical approach to these speculations is recommended, and it’s important to be prepared for possible surprises as Apple progresses in the development of its upcoming smartphones.
