Leaks of the DJI Osmo Action 6 Emerge Just Three Months After the Launch of the Action 5 Pro.
Wait, will another action camera arrive?
New documents have been registered with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) suggesting an upcoming launch of the DJI Osmo Action 6 model, despite the fact that the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro was only released last September. This indicates that the company is accelerating the development of its next action camera, which may be available as early as 2025.
The sighting of this information was made by various sources who noticed the inclusion of a device called "DJI Osmo Action 6" in regulatory filings, suggesting that DJI is rapidly advancing updates in its product line. It is worth noting that the current model hit the market in mid-September, and it is common for product launches to occur shortly after filings with the FCC.
Similar documents were submitted to the Swiss regulator SGS at the end of October, revealing DJI's intention not to waste time in providing upgrades to its technology. Initial indications about the new device are limited, but it mentions connectivity capabilities such as Bluetooth 5.1 and support for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks.
Two battery capacities are also listed: 1,770mAh and 1,950mAh, suggesting the possibility of different versions of the DJI Osmo Action 6. The previous model, the Osmo Action 5 Pro, features a 1,950mAh battery, raising expectations for both a Pro version and a standard version in this new release.
The competition in the action camera market is fierce, and the new device will have to meet high expectations, as DJI's latest camera was considered "a versatile camera with serious creative capabilities," able to rival the GoPro Hero 13 Black model. While the final specifications are still to be seen, there is hope that the camera will offer higher video resolutions, improved performance in low-light conditions, and enhancements in battery life.
