The new Ford Expedition incorporates Android Automotive and half of Lincoln's panoramic screen.

Ford is reserving the extra screens for its luxury brand.

Ford has introduced a redesigned version of its largest SUV, which now incorporates the new Digital Experience infotainment system. With the 2025 model of the Expedition, the brand steps into the use of the Android Automotive-based system, marking the second time it has implemented it, after doing so in the recent Explorer. The dashboard design and user interface of the new Expedition resemble a scaled-down version of the massive 48-inch panoramic screen that was previously launched in the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus.

At an event in Texas, a drone light show was held to generate excitement about the new SUV. The Expedition appears to feature only the left half of the panoramic screen from the Lincoln, leaving a 24-inch panel for its use. While the instrument cluster and driver-facing navigation remain intact, it lacks some widgets present on the Lincoln's screen. Additionally, the central touchscreen below allows the use of applications from the Google Play Store and is compatible with Apple CarPlay, just like in the Lincoln, including digital controls for the climate control system.

The vehicle is also compatible with voice assistants Google Assistant and Alexa (though they cannot be used simultaneously), and some versions offer the hands-free driving option called BlueCruise. Pillar-to-pillar panoramic screens have become an attractive feature that manufacturers have been incorporating into their more luxurious vehicles, allowing the front passenger to enjoy streaming videos and even play PlayStation.

The Expedition is available in standard wheelbase versions and an extended option called “Max.” In the second row, customers can choose between bench seating or captain's chairs, and the front row headrests are equipped with a system that can hold smartphones or tablets for the second-row passengers. The model can accommodate up to eight people when the bench option is selected.

At first glance, the Expedition appears to replicate the design of the new Lincoln Navigator, featuring elements such as the split tailgate, a light bar at the front, and a 3.5-liter V6 engine. Additionally, the new Tremor version of the Expedition offers up to 440 horsepower, has a tuned suspension, and specific driving modes for enhanced off-road capability. Like the Navigator, the Expedition does not have a hybrid powertrain option.
