The new ClimateCool smart bed by Sleep Number aims to eliminate night sweats.

This smart bed ensures you stay cool throughout the night.

The new smart bed from Sleep Number, called ClimateCool, has been designed to maintain a pleasant temperature throughout the night. With a starting price of $5,499, this model represents the latest innovation from the brand known for its ability to adjust mattress firmness. In a statement, the company highlights that its new product utilizes "scientifically backed" cooling programs, which could be particularly useful for those experiencing menopause symptoms.

The ClimateCool is Sleep Number's second smart bed that allows for individual temperature control on each side of the mattress. Its predecessor, the Climate360, launched in 2020, was also designed to pull heat away from the body but additionally had the capability to warm up if one felt cold. Unlike the Climate360, which starts at $10,000 for a Queen size, the ClimateCool is more affordably priced.

Furthermore, Sleep Number assures that the ClimateCool uses a cooling technology similar to that of the Climate360. Both beds in the Climate series feature active cooling, enabled by new SmartTemp cooling programs developed in collaboration with Northwestern University. These programs work alongside ceramic gel layers and a breathable surface that help regulate body temperature throughout the night.

The ClimateCool bed includes an airflow system and a surface designed to draw heat away from the body, promoting a more comfortable sleep environment. The company conducted studies revealing that changes in body temperature during menopause negatively affect sleep quality. A survey of over 10,550 Sleep Number bed users found that 90% of women going through menopause or perimenopause experience night sweats.

Sleep Number's active cooling technology can assist those suffering from these symptoms by improving their sleep quality, adjusting to body temperature changes, and extracting residual heat through a dynamic airflow system. Additionally, the ClimateCool allows each side of the mattress to be set with a different cooling program, enabling one person to stay cool while their partner remains comfortable.

Users can customize their cooling program or choose between two options that cater to different needs, such as recovery after workouts, deep sleep, or relief from menopause symptoms:

  • 'All Night Cooling,' designed to maintain a cool temperature and ease thermal fluctuations and hot flashes.
  • 'Deep Sleep Cooling,' which aims to reduce interruptions during the night’s sleep.

In addition to the firmness adjustment capability, the ClimateCool features integrated sleep tracking that collects biological signals and provides detailed reports on sleep quality, accessible through the corresponding app. The smart ClimateCool bed is now available on the company’s website and in their stores, with prices starting at $5,499 for the Queen size and $6,999 with an adjustable FlexFit 2 base.
