The latest Microsoft Windows update is causing issues for some gamers.

The 24H2 version of Windows 11 is causing crashes in some computer games.

The latest update for Microsoft Windows 11, version 24H2, was released last Tuesday, introducing a variety of new features for users. Among these updates are several AI-related tools, including the controversial Recall feature. However, the rollout of this update has encountered issues, particularly for PC gamers.

Microsoft has published information about the known issues associated with the update on a dedicated page for Windows 11 version 24H2 incidents, warning some gamers about bugs that cause certain video games to crash unexpectedly.

One of the highlighted problems is incompatibility with Easy Anti-Cheat, a software service provided by Epic Games that helps prevent hacking and cheating in online multiplayer games. While Epic uses this service in its own titles, such as the popular Fortnite, many other developers also license this technology. According to Microsoft, "most devices facing this issue are using Easy Anti-Cheat drivers released before April 2024." Furthermore, the compatibility difficulties should only affect devices equipped with Intel Alder Lake+ processors and the vPro platform.

The statement indicates that, "in rare cases, when opening or playing certain games, this issue may cause affected devices to become unresponsive and display a blue screen with the 'MEMORY_MANAGEMENT' error." To mitigate the consequences, Microsoft has implemented measures to prevent devices with those drivers from upgrading to version 24H2. Users who attempt to manually upgrade will receive a pop-up message informing them of the problem. The company is advising potentially affected users to refrain from updating Windows 11 until the situation is resolved.

Additionally, there is another issue related to the game Asphalt 8. Microsoft has noted that after installing Windows 11 version 24H2, players may experience difficulties with Asphalt 8 (Airborne). "The game may become unresponsive with an exception while you are using it or when exiting it, requiring you to restart the game to recover from that exception," the statement indicates. To avoid further complications, a compatibility restriction has also been implemented on PCs that have Asphalt 8 installed to prevent them from updating to the new version of Windows.
