The MKBHD wallpaper app has received a significant update following criticism over its pricing structure and the amount of ads for free accounts. On Friday, the team behind Panels announced on X that users who use the app for free can now access high-resolution images instead of standard ones by simply watching an ad.
Previously, users had to subscribe to a monthly plan of $11.99 or an annual plan of $49.99 to download images in their entirety. Additionally, those using the app for free had to watch two ads before they could access standard definition wallpapers. The new update has removed this requirement, allowing users to access standard definition images without having to watch ads.
Furthermore, Panels has removed ads from the explore page, which allows users to discover new wallpapers, and has added new artwork. Although this update does not change the subscription price for Panels Plus, this is not unexpected, as Marques Brownlee (better known as MKBHD) has mentioned that his goal is to provide solid value for the premium version of the app.
