JLab Launches Noise-Canceling Wireless Headphones for $30.
You may feel less stressed about the possibility of losing inexpensive headphones.
JLab has launched a new pair of noise-canceling wireless headphones at an affordable price: the Go Pop ANC, which are available for $29.99. This model is half the price of the ANC 3 that the company already offers, which retails for $59.99. Despite their lower cost, the Go Pop ANC includes features such as an ambient sound enhancement mode and up to 21 hours of battery life with active noise cancellation.
Although testing of the active noise cancellation performance of the Go Pop ANC has not yet been conducted, it is reasonable to not expect their effectiveness to compete with leading market offerings from brands like Sony. These new headphones utilize a dual-microphone system in a feed-forward approach to detect and cancel external noise. In contrast, more advanced and costly cancellation systems typically incorporate a hybrid approach with additional microphones inside the earbud, allowing them to eliminate a broader range of frequencies.
The Go Pop ANC are part of the variety of wireless headphone models offered by JLab, which have included a charging case with an integrated USB-C cable. According to the company, the battery life can reach up to seven hours when using just the earbuds and up to 24 hours with the case, as long as noise cancellation is turned off. However, when this function is activated, the duration drops to six hours for the earbuds or up to 21 hours with the case. In case they run out, a quick charge of 10 minutes provides an additional hour of playback, and the case comes with a USB-C cable, eliminating the need to search for one.
The 10-millimeter drivers of the Go Pop ANC are significantly larger than those found in JLab's budget earbuds, such as the $25 Go Air Pop. Like the more expensive ANC 3, the Go Pop ANC features touch controls to activate noise cancellation or ambient mode, as well as to control playback without needing to take out the phone. However, if you want to switch between equalization presets or modify the function of the touch controls, you will need to use the JLab app on a mobile device.
Among other features, these headphones offer IP55-rated water resistance for use during rain or while sweating, compatibility with Bluetooth 5.3, multi-device connectivity, and Google Fast Pair. However, Bluetooth codec support is limited to SBC, which provides the lowest bitrate and sound quality, which could relegate the Go Pop ANC to being backup headphones rather than preferred ones for daily use.
