New rumors have emerged about the upcoming Pixel Tablet 2, which promises to include a keyboard accessory, in contrast to the original model that was unveiled in May 2022 and hit the market in June 2023. As the successor to the first device, it is said that the announcement of the new tablet is still "many months" away.
According to a source close to the development, Google is working on a new model that could feature a cover keyboard, a feature that many users requested for the first version, which was considered less functional due to the lack of this official accessory. The keyboard would attach to the tablet via pogo pins, also allowing it to function as a stand to keep the device in an upright position, a design seen in other tablets.
In addition to the keyboard, improvements to the camera are anticipated, surpassing that of the 2023 model which had an 8MP lens, although the exact specifications of this update are still unknown. It is also expected that the new tablet will integrate a more powerful chip; the original model comes with the Tensor G2, so it is likely that the Pixel Tablet 2 will utilize the Tensor G4, similar to that of the Pixel 9 series, or even the Tensor G5 that has yet to be announced.
It has been mentioned that the Pixel Tablet 3 is also in development and is expected to be released in 2027, suggesting that a 2025 arrival for the Pixel Tablet 2 is the most logical timeline.
