iOS 18.1 makes it easy to manage changes to email addresses.
The arrival of iOS 18.1 has brought modifications that make it easier for users to change the email address in their inbox for account activities.
With the release of iOS 18.1, Apple has implemented a significant change that will make it easier for users who wish to modify the email address associated with their accounts. Prior to this update, if a user wanted to change their primary Apple email, they first had to delete the existing address. This created a cumbersome process, as a new email could only be added after deleting the current one. However, with the arrival of iOS 18.1, users can now make this change without having to delete anything.
Within the Settings app, a new option called "Primary Email" has been added, allowing users to set an email address as their preferred inbox for all communications. This adjustment is particularly useful for those using a Gmail account to collaborate on their iPhone and iPad devices. Additionally, Apple has simplified the process for changing the primary iCloud email address, which is the account used for various Apple functions, from sign-in and recovery to using iMessage and FaceTime.
This change also brings a security aspect. Previously, users could only use an alias if they were part of a shared project; otherwise, their email address remained exposed. In some cases, people wanted to delete an email that was not professional. With the iOS 18.1 update, it is now possible to replace the iCloud email address with one that is more suitable.
For users who already have iOS 18.1 installed, the adjustments can be made by going to: Settings > Profile Name (at the top) > Sign-In & Security > Email and Phone Numbers. The changes were initially detected by some analysts in the tech field. On the other hand, Apple has released the sixth beta update of iOS 18.1 for users in the testing channel, which features some aesthetic modifications and several minor additions in the Settings app.
