Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has been unveiled, a new franchise from Naughty Dog.
"The most complex gameplay in Naughty Dog's history."
Naughty Dog has shared information about its upcoming project, an action title set in a science fiction world titled Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. This new game, representing an original franchise, is in exclusive development for PlayStation 5 and was revealed during The Game Awards 2024 ceremony.
Although details about the game are limited, the announcement trailer gives a glimpse of the style and atmosphere that can be expected. The preview introduces the protagonist, Jordan A. Mun, played by actress Tati Gabrielle, as she is aboard a retro-futuristic spaceship. Mun is a highly skilled bounty hunter on the trail of a target who has escaped to the enigmatic and dangerous planet Sempiria. After a conversation with her agent, she decides to follow him to the planet’s surface.
It seems that Sempiria will be the main setting of the game, as inferred from a recent press release, since Jordan ends up stranded there and must fight for her survival. At the end of the trailer, a possible enemy in the game is shown, an imposing robotic creature armed with a double-edged axe. The protagonist, in turn, confronts this enemy wielding a sword that emits red energy.
The press release also mentions that "this game follows Naughty Dog's tradition of creating an epic character-driven journey" and suggests that "this will be the deepest gameplay in Naughty Dog's history." An official release date has not yet been announced, although it has been confirmed that the title will be available for PS5. While this is just speculation, it seems unlikely that the game will be ready for 2025, with hopes that more concrete information will be revealed in the coming months.
