Intel faces new challenges with the potential entry of Nvidia into the PC processor market.

Attention AMD and Intel.

Nvidia may be considering entering the consumer processor market, according to a recent report. This new CPU could possibly be based on Arm architecture, representing a significant expansion for the company into a sector currently dominated by Intel and AMD.

Reports indicate that Nvidia may announce its new chips in September 2025, with a planned launch for March 2026. Arm CEO Rene Haas has revealed that in 2024, the agreement that gives Qualcomm exclusivity over its Snapdragon chips for Windows on Arm will be reviewed. This opens the door to new opportunities in a market that could become more competitive.

Nvidia’s entry into this field could be a strategic move, leveraging its well-known reputation in the PC world to challenge the dominance of Intel and AMD. However, the lack of a license for x86 architecture could pose a barrier. There is a possibility that Nvidia could obtain such a license through collaboration with Qualcomm, especially if speculation about a potential acquisition of Intel by Qualcomm comes to fruition.

Additionally, there are rumors about Nvidia's intention to venture into the gaming processor market, which would complement its current dominance in the graphics card sector. However, this type of project would require a significant investment to adapt games to Arm architecture. Although Arm processors have shown optimized performance, the lack of native support from most PC software and games remains a challenge.

However, if Valve was able to get a range of PC games to support Linux through SteamOS for the Steam Deck, there is a possibility that Nvidia could drive similar development for the Arm platform.
