Indian Railways launches SwaRail, a superapp that integrates all railway services into a single platform: here's how it works.

The application is now available for iOS and Android users.

The Ministry of Railways of India has launched the superapp SwaRail, a comprehensive platform designed to offer a variety of services. These include ticket booking, the ability to order food on board trains, and inquiries about PNR status. The app, currently available in beta on both Android via the Google Play Store and iOS on the App Store, aims to simplify the user experience by consolidating multiple railway-related services into a single application. This will not only eliminate the need to use several apps but also save space on the device.

The beta version of the SwaRail SuperApp offers functionalities such as ticket booking (reserved, unreserved, and platform tickets), inquiries about cargo and parcels, train status and PNR verification, on-board food ordering, and complaint management through the Rail Madad service. The Indian Railways SuperApp features aimed at optimizing the user experience include a single sign-on that allows access to all services with one set of credentials, which can also be used in existing Indian railway apps, like IRCTC RailConnect and UTS.

The app facilitates the registration process, allowing users to log in with their RailConnect or UTS credentials, in addition to offering authentication options using m-PIN or biometrics. This all-in-one approach seeks to replace several current apps by consolidating all services into a single platform. Travelers will be able to manage all their railway-related inquiries and tasks more conveniently through a single application.

For now, the app is in the beta testing phase, with all available spots already filled in the app stores. It is expected to be available to the general public soon, allowing users to download it from either platform once it is officially launched. Users who already have the RailConnect or UTS app can log in directly using their current credentials. New users will find it easy to register with minimal information.
