I'm still upset with Netflix for cancelling the most unpredictable mystery series I've ever seen: reasons why "The Society" is still worth watching.

Netflix, I will not forgive you for this.

The series "The Society" was canceled after its first season, leaving many of its followers disappointed. Although years have passed since its cancellation, recent cuts on the streaming platform have reopened wounds among fans of series that were abruptly removed. This impact was felt again with the recent news about the cancellation of "Black Summer," another beloved show.

So far this year, the company has decided to discontinue more than 15 series, with "Kaos," a dark comedy inspired by Greek mythology, being the most recent to generate controversy. "The Society" is on the list of canceled productions that many consider worth watching, despite its abrupt ending four years ago. Some fans have even launched a petition on Change.org requesting its renewal for a second season.

The teen series premiered in May 2019 and was renewed for a second season just two months later. However, the production scheduled for March 2020 was halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic, leading to the decision to cancel it. "The Society" achieved a rating of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes, demonstrating that it was more than just a typical teen series filled with clichés. Instead, it offered a profound and realistic view of community, politics, and culture, with a unique premise that promised to become a major success.

The plot revolves around a group of teenagers who, upon returning from a school trip, realize that all the adults in their community have inexplicably disappeared. To survive, they must form their own society, triggering chaos that quickly turns into a struggle for survival, filled with betrayals and secrets. Throughout its ten episodes, the unexpected twists and the evolution of its characters make "The Society" a must-watch series.

The characters are diverse: from a manipulative psychopath to a devout Catholic, each faces their issues in different ways. The series also addresses important social topics such as teenage pregnancy, domestic abuse, mental health, and living with disabilities, making it even more relevant.

Despite the cancellation, the creator of the series has expressed in interviews his desire to continue the story, although there are no guarantees that this will happen. Despite the uncertainty, fans continue to seek answers about the unresolved mysteries, such as the whereabouts of the adults and the identity of Becca's baby’s father.

In conclusion, although "The Society" will not receive a continuation, it remains a show that deserves to be viewed and praised for its complex narrative and memorable characters.
