I'm not a professional sound engineer, but if I were, I would choose the Focal Utopia Main studio monitors.

Speakers designed for professional musicians and producers.

Focal, a renowned French audio brand, has unveiled its new range of studio monitors called Utopia Main, specifically designed for engineers, musicians, producers, and other audio professionals seeking exceptional quality and willing to invest a considerable amount in their equipment. This line includes two models: the UM 112, a three-way monitor, and the UM 212, a 3.5-way design.

Each component of these monitors has been meticulously developed for these particular models, highlighting innovations such as an ‘M-shaped membrane’ in the 5-inch midrange driver and a 'beryllium tweeter with a W-shaped diaphragm.' Focal has been working on many of the elements of the Utopia range since 2017, and they believe that Utopia Main represents a significant milestone in the company's professional division.

The technical aspects of the monitors are remarkable. Focal has introduced its Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) technology in the high-frequency driver for the first time, which has allowed for a reduction of Total Harmonic Distortion at 3kHz by half. They have also increased the diameter of the voice coil to 25 mm to enhance heat dissipation. The patented amplifiers of the UM 112 and UM 212 combine Class H amplification with current mode amplification, allowing engineers to directly control the force applied to the diaphragm, thus minimizing any unwanted distortion in the audio signal.

The prices of these models are quite high, with the Focal UM 112 offered at $30,000 / £22,000 (approximately AU$43,000), and the UM 212 at $50,000 / £38,000 (around AU$75,000). Undoubtedly, these are wish-list items for audio enthusiasts.
